A Vacation & Hunting Trip

We were going to the barrio for a vacation and to hunt for wild ducks and birds. My father had taken the whole family as well for a vacation. My father loved hunting and his two buddies had invited him to hunt...and to quite his conscience that he was the only one enjoying, he had taken us, his whole family, with him to enjoy. We were to go first and later on my father buddies would follow.

We were one  big patriarchal family. My father (44 years old) had two wives. I have 3  little sisters (8, 10 & 14 years old)  from my mother (38 years old)  and 2 brother (1 & 8 years old)  from my young step-mother (25 years old). I am 18 years old. Together with us was our helper Pacing who have been with us since time immemorial.

In the car, it was both noisy and fun.

OLD WOMAN SITTING

We were on a trip to  Barrio Mama. The long trip had took made my father weary so that  he stop our car to rest  under one of the shade of a big tree. The road  was dusty, there were no other cars, except ours.  An old woman  was sitting there on the grass road looking at us .I stared at her... she had a red turban on her head and was dress in sarong; her eyes was fearfully bloody  red and seemed to be covered with a misty thin plastic cover.

My mother gave her a sandwich which she took and gave us a smile showing her red tainted teeth. After a while my father made the decision to continue our travel.  And as our car slowly  passed the old woman,  I saw her spat on the ground with what looked like bloody sputum. I saw my little sister gasp at the sight of the red sputum...
